F-Zero X Climax

2014 · Racing · Nintendo 64

It’s build on F-Zero Climax, the last episode of the series, released only in Japan on GBA. All the 24 F-Zero X tracks have been remade, the 24 new circuits are from F-Zero Climax but very large changes were made, including 3D, absent the GBA version. Like many games it takes a little time to learn the tracks and enjoy it. On championship mode the opponents are much faster than in the original game, it makes F-Zero X Climax more difficult. The new layout respect the original GBA circuits with arrows, ice and land in the same places, but here the tracks are much longer (the circuit of F-Zero Climax are very short and the machines fast, all with design and handling that would be very ill-suited to F-Zero X if proportions were kept). A lot of arrows and jump plates have been added here and there to reduce the feeling of emptiness and length of some sections and to increase fun course! Graphics side, it took a full year of intense hard work(six to eight hours a day in most cases, sometimes more) to successfully find and change a maximum of textures, images and texts and after getting a lot of problems, they have all come together nicely in the end. It’s like playing a whole new game!

MRC: Multi-Racing Championship

1997 · Racing · Nintendo 64

Featuring up to 10 chooseable cars (many which open up later in the game), and three courses (plus mirror courses), Multi Racing Championship's biggest draw is the splendidly realistic feel of the cars themselves and the well designed courses on which they drive. The cars range from 4X4s, trucks, and off-road racers to slick street cars, Lamborghinis and the like. While initially it may seem like there is a deficit of courses, in fact, the multi-terrain courses contain mini-courses within each one. For instance, at least three times in each course, you will have the choice to take two different road directions -- either rough dirt track or snow-laden road, ot a slick but usually longer street course. Each car handles terrains differently, and some, like the trucks, obviously handle the off-roads better than others, but you can also modify your street car to handle dirst roads well, too. • Saves via Internal Memory (EEPROM) - Secondary Saves via Controller Pak

Stunt Racer 64

2000 · Racing · Nintendo 64

Set in some unspecified time in the future, the gameplay includes more than simple racing. Older vehicles (primarily those regarded even today as classics) are retrofitted with futuristic engine and turbo technology, in addition to jets mounted to allow the car to perform midair stunts. These stunts, including flips, barrel rolls, etc., allow the player to accumulate cash rewards during races on levitating tracks. Money accumulated is used to purchase new cars, as well as upgraded parts for cars (This increases the value of the vehicle. Oddly enough, this feature is relatively useless because vehicles can't be sold.) • Saves via Controller Pak

Penny Racers

1999 · Racing · Nintendo 64

The premise of PENNY RACERS is simple: race your car the best you can and be among the top three to reach the checkered flag. To achieve this objective, you must avoid missiles launched by your competitors, among other things. One way to counter this is the barrel roll maneuver, which is a quick and effective way to avoid unexpected hurdles on the tracks. In the beginning, you drive a pretty unimpressive racer. However, if you beat the competition and place in the top three, your reward is the chance to upgrade your car. Be merciless and steal the losing racers' special features, such as engine and armor upgrades, special attack abilities, and enhancing cosmetic features for the car. You have 13 different racer body styles and nine tracks to choose from. The cartoony racers zip through city streets, ice caves, and a volcano, and with the Track Create mode, you can design the wildest track you can imagine. When you toss four-player racing into the fray, the fun quadruples as the action intensifies and the losers are utterly humiliated. • Saves via Internal Memory (EEPROM) - Secondary Saves via Controller Pak

S.C.A.R.S.

1998 · Racing · Nintendo 64

In this game players take control of cars that take the shape of different animals. The game itself takes the role as a combat racing game as it features weapons to use against your opposition while racing, and the computers can do the same to you. The game has four modes: Grand Prix, Challenge and Time Attack. The object of this game is to compete in the Grand Prix and to unlock new tracks and cars. The difficulty of each tournament is determined by which cup you choose to race for. The first cup you race for is the Carbon cup, and once you've beaten that you will unlock other cups that are based on elements like crystal, and diamond. Once you have won a tournament you will unlock a new cup to compete for, new levels to race in, and the chance to challenge other cars to gain access to them for use in Grand Prix races and vs mode. While Racing you can acquire weapons located around the tracks to help you finish the race quicker or to slow down your opponents so you can overtake them. The combat system is different from many games, except for having health and being destroyed for a limited amount of time, if you or an enemy is hit by a weapon you will be temporarily be slowed downed which gives your opponent time to overtake you. They're some weapons that can be avoided by using your cars jump jets; all cars have jump jets and can be used to avoid certain weapons, however not all weapons can be avoided even with the Jump Jets. The weapons are: turbo boost, magnets, seeker-style missiles, a boomerang, time bombs, stingers, stoppers, rounds of bullets, and a shield. • Saves via Controller Pak - Secondary Saves via Password
