Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

1997 · Action · Sony Playstation

Five years ago, Richter Belmont, the latest in the Belmont lineage and the one destined to be a Vampire Hunter, defeated Dracula in a brutal battle which nearly cost him the love of his life, Annette, and her sister, Maria. Now, Richter has suddenly vanished, CastleVania has mysteriously reappeared, and Maria, now a young woman, sets off to find Richter. Alucard, the son of Dracula, is awakened from his eternal slumber after this large shift in power, and enters into Castlevania to find some answers and perhaps destroy the castle once again. Symphony of the Night is a direct sequel to Dracula X: Rondo of Blood. The game is set in a castle which you can explore freely with many different paths, although often items in certain areas need to be found that will allow passage to others. The action-based gameplay incorporates now strong RPG elements. The hero receives experience points for defeating enemies, gains levels and becomes more powerful. There is also money to be found in the game, and various accessories to buy. In a separate screen, players need to equip attack weapons, shields and other items. Magic plays an important role, as well as secondary weapons and a large amount of "special moves" that are executed similar to advanced one-on-one fighting games.

Chaos Break

2000 · Horror · Sony Playstation

The human race begins its battle with mysterious alien cells that fuse with molecular structures of all kinds. Chaos Break's story begins when the evil Fluxus Inc... bio-engineers 'monsters' from living cells found in a meteorite, which spontaneously propagate on an island facility in Chilean territory. This propagation must obviously be stopped by the forces of good. A woman with a beret named 'Mitsuki', and her red-headed male friend named Rick, must kill zombies. When Mitsuki and friends helicopter down to the island over an ugly backdrop of the least convincingly animated water I have ever seen, they are attacked by mutants, and then they have to run around finding keys and passwords to open doors, treading on the odd squirming yellow monster and wiping that fresh alien crud from their boots. And In their search for the answers, they will become embroiled in the bloodcurdling retrospective drama archived in the final emails left in the computer system by the researchers who worked in the facility before they ended up as zombie brunch.

Give Cheesy a chance, help him collect the cheese and escape the castle, to reaveal a shocking ending, does Cheesy really escape or does he get caught in a mousetrap? Find out get the game!!! Cheesy is an astoundingly three dimensional platformer which sets new standards for next generation gaming. Chrono Cross

1999 · Role-Playing · Sony Playstation

Chrono Cross features standard RPG gameplay with some differences. Players advance the game by controlling the protagonist Serge through the game's world, primarily by foot and boat. Navigation between areas is conducted via an overworld map, much like Chrono Trigger's, depicting the landscape from a scaled down overhead view. Around the island world are villages, outdoor areas, and dungeons, through which the player moves in three dimensions. Locations such as cities and forests are represented by more realistically scaled field maps, in which players can converse with locals to procure items and services, solve puzzles and challenges, or encounter enemies. Like Chrono Trigger, the game features no random encounters; enemies are openly visible on field maps or lie in wait to ambush the party

Cindy's Caribbean Holiday

2004 · Party · Sony Playstation

Cindy's Caribbean Holiday is a single player game aimed at young girls and which consists of a series of simple activities. The game starts with an animated sequence in which Cindy calls up her friends and invites them on a holiday in the Caribbean. This leads the player to the main menu. From this menu all the game's activities can be accessed. They consist of: 1) Adventures: There are five adventures to choose from: - Packing for the holidays: In this mini-game the player starts in Cindy's Room. A number of items of clothing are scattered around and the object of the game is to click on each to remove it from the screen within a fixed time limit. After clearing Cindy's room the player moves to Kate's room and then Diana's. - Interior Designer: The player is presented with a picture of Cindy's Room and four icons. These icons change the style and colour of the sofa, the light, the picture and the chair. - Lost Rabbits: This mini-game is similar to Whac-A-Mole. There are three levels to this game, all using the same tree-filled background. Behind some of the trees are rabbits which randomly slide into view before going back into hiding. The object of the game is to catch the rabbits by clicking on them. There is no time limit. - Delicious Fruits: There are three levels to this mini-game, each featuring a different character against the same background. Each level lasts for a fixed period of time. Pictures of fruit and bugs fall slowly from the top of the screen and the object is to catch as much fruit as possible while avoiding the bugs. At the end of each level, and at the end of the game a score is given. - Bikini Fun: In this game the player gets to change the clothes the girls wear. There is no option to save or print the picture 2) Cool tests: There are four tests in this section: - In the Boyfriend Finder the player answers questions about their favourite colour, shape and number then the computer calculates the name of the boys who would be a perfect match. - The Coolest Girl test is very similar, after answering five simple multiple choice questions the game responds with an assessment of the players character. - The Pet Guide asks questions about the players favourite food, flower and fruit before calculating the player's ideal pet. - Finally the Friendship Indicator asks five multiple choice questions before responding with an assessment of whether the player would make a good friend or not. 3) Beach Images: This mini-game invites the player to select one of ten pictures. It then shows that picture full-screen in join-the-dots format. As the player must click on the dots in the correct order the game completes the picture line by line.

Circuit Breakers

1998 · Racing · Sony Playstation

CIRCUIT BREAKERS is new kind of racing game. Rather than racing on road courses, the tracks are more like roller coaster rides, with hairpin turns and drastic drops. And, like a roller coaster, there are no walls to keep you on the track. So, missing a turn will throw you into the abyss and cost you valuable time. Your ability to stay on course is tested in three play modes: World Series, Battle, and Time Trial. In World Series, try to beat seven opponents in 16 different races. Battle mode allows you to challenge three friends to a race. If you find the track too crowded, tackle the Time Trial mode and create new world records for each track. In all modes, the courses are littered with power ups including rocket boosters, shrinkers, and oil slicks that give the player a competitive edge. If you're tired of the same old racing games, give CIRCUIT BREAKERS a try.

Civilization II

1998 · Strategy · Sony Playstation

Starting out with just a single unit and knowledge of a small local area, your challenge is to guide your civilization into becoming the dominant force, either by conquering every other civilization or by sending a spaceship to Alpha Centauri. As you'd imagine, a lot of challenges come into such a task. You must locate cities so as to make use of food, construction and trade resources, which can be later improved by constructing irrigation, roads, mines, railroads, and farmland. Each city can construct one item at a time - civilian and military units, buildings or Wonders of the World (there are 28 of these across the different eras of the game, and each can be possessed by only one city). The buildings and wonders have different effects - most buildings and some wonders improve defenses, scientific research, trade or food output, but most wonders offer unique advantages that can be used to great strategic effect. There are over 100 scientific advancements in the game, and most require prerequisites before they can be researched. How quickly this happens depends on your scientific output, which must be traded off against financial and military concerns.
