Rugrats: Scavenger Hunt

1999 · Platform · Nintendo 64

In their big debut on the Nintendo 64, the favorite cartoon babies are about to get wrapped up in the scavenger hunt to end all scavenger hunts. Featuring three different board games, RUGRATS: Scavenger Hunt utilizes the animation and humor from the cartoon series, and melds it into an original game that has players traipsing through 3D worlds looking for hidden objects. In "The Pirate Treasure Hunt," the babies travel underwater in search of items; "Angelica's Temple of Gloom" challenges players to find bits of Stu's broken Aztec statues before Angelica can; and "Reptar Rally" has the babies collecting sweets in Candy Island. Once you choose your baby from a list that includes Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, or Lil, you begin using a spinner (just like a board game spinner) to determine how many spaces you'll advance. There are lots of trick spaces that give you advantages or disadvantages, like the Spike the Dog spot (which allows you to ride the pet for five spaces), and a Dil spot (which makes Dil come out and shuffle the board). Don't get too worked up though, as each baby has an energy meter, and if it hits zero you'll have to take a nap. • No save option available

F-Zero X Climax

2014 · Racing · Nintendo 64

It’s build on F-Zero Climax, the last episode of the series, released only in Japan on GBA. All the 24 F-Zero X tracks have been remade, the 24 new circuits are from F-Zero Climax but very large changes were made, including 3D, absent the GBA version. Like many games it takes a little time to learn the tracks and enjoy it. On championship mode the opponents are much faster than in the original game, it makes F-Zero X Climax more difficult. The new layout respect the original GBA circuits with arrows, ice and land in the same places, but here the tracks are much longer (the circuit of F-Zero Climax are very short and the machines fast, all with design and handling that would be very ill-suited to F-Zero X if proportions were kept). A lot of arrows and jump plates have been added here and there to reduce the feeling of emptiness and length of some sections and to increase fun course! Graphics side, it took a full year of intense hard work(six to eight hours a day in most cases, sometimes more) to successfully find and change a maximum of textures, images and texts and after getting a lot of problems, they have all come together nicely in the end. It’s like playing a whole new game!

MRC: Multi-Racing Championship

1997 · Racing · Nintendo 64

Featuring up to 10 chooseable cars (many which open up later in the game), and three courses (plus mirror courses), Multi Racing Championship's biggest draw is the splendidly realistic feel of the cars themselves and the well designed courses on which they drive. The cars range from 4X4s, trucks, and off-road racers to slick street cars, Lamborghinis and the like. While initially it may seem like there is a deficit of courses, in fact, the multi-terrain courses contain mini-courses within each one. For instance, at least three times in each course, you will have the choice to take two different road directions -- either rough dirt track or snow-laden road, ot a slick but usually longer street course. Each car handles terrains differently, and some, like the trucks, obviously handle the off-roads better than others, but you can also modify your street car to handle dirst roads well, too. • Saves via Internal Memory (EEPROM) - Secondary Saves via Controller Pak

Stunt Racer 64

2000 · Racing · Nintendo 64

Set in some unspecified time in the future, the gameplay includes more than simple racing. Older vehicles (primarily those regarded even today as classics) are retrofitted with futuristic engine and turbo technology, in addition to jets mounted to allow the car to perform midair stunts. These stunts, including flips, barrel rolls, etc., allow the player to accumulate cash rewards during races on levitating tracks. Money accumulated is used to purchase new cars, as well as upgraded parts for cars (This increases the value of the vehicle. Oddly enough, this feature is relatively useless because vehicles can't be sold.) • Saves via Controller Pak
